The Galega Olive

The Galega olive, a unique variety, represents the collective imagination of olive oil lovers: a ancient variety that holds a mystical flavor
natural to excellent products. With remote origins, it has long been considered one of the most important varieties of the country, being
also known as «Portuguese olive».

Galega is mainly used for olive oil production, however, it has medium or low yield for this end when compared to other varieties, aside from being more susceptible to a disease called gafa and to the attacks of the olive fly, factors that endanger its survival. It’s a variety also
used as table olive, as it is easy to separate the pulp from the core.
